2006
The centerpiece of the festival is a world premiere directed by ETC’s Artistic Director, Jaclyn Biskup. See me. Hear me. is a durational improvisation that explores the desire for people to be identified and recognized. It will include five actors manipulating light, clothes, and signs to create images and interactions, which hinge on the intersection of perception and coincidence.
Company member Megan Larmer directs Chapter 15, an aural collaboration based on the notoriously chaotic script embedded in James Joyce's masterpiece Ulysses. Taavo Smith’s (company member) play, Sweet Little Vernor Is Eating Himself, is directed by Kasey Foster of Director and Actor Inc. Other work includes: The Engaged Theatre present’s a scene from Jacob Juntunen’s KANTOR! KANTOR! (SOLO!). The life and theatrical works of Polish director/playwright Tadeusz Kantor form the basis for this haunting assemblage of text, performance and poetry. Liminal Spaces brings "I Am You," an exploration of genetics, loyalty and the ethics of medical advancement using puppetry, movement, dance and heightened text. Susan Karsnick performs her solo stream –of-consciousness works: Yellow Bicycle Handle and Bread Baby. Erica Mott’s piece entitled, unembodied is a butoh inspired exploration of the female form between life and the after. Diandra Jones presents ShutEye, which explores, through movement and sound, the human ability to “carry on” amidst calamity and manage a good night’s sleep. Finally, Salamander Word Ensemble brings us new music and poetry composed in collaboration between the poet and musician. |
